Dallas is among the first major cities in the U.S. to adopt a comprehensive green building standard for all residential and commercial construction!
Dallas is focusing on energy efficiency, water conservation and reducing the heat island effect through cool roofs. New construction will also have to be certifiable by USGBC LEED™, Green Built Texas™, or an equivalent green building standard.
Starting September 1st 2011, the City of Dallas started using 3rd party Green Building Inspectors to perform Green Building Inspections on ALL new construction, additions, alterations, renovations and finish outs on residential and commercial properties. Phase 2, with even more stringent requirements, was launched on October 1, 2013.
The Dallas Green Building program is closely integrated with the Dallas Permit process. Initial permitting is now deferred until the initial Plan Review is conducted by the 3rd party inspector.
As you consider your options, it is important to know that the Green Building Code and Energy Code are considered separate by the city. Also, not all Green Building Code providers are also capable of taking care of your Energy Code Compliance. Because Energy IQ verifies both codes, we are able to offer a “turn-key” service, saving our clients both time and money.
If your project is responsible for following Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS), we can take care of verifying those requirements as well, giving you even greater flexibility and savings!
Energy IQ is your “Go To” provider of 3rd Party Dallas Green Building Inspections for all Residential and Commercial Construction Projects. Call us today to get started!
